Khao Yai National Park is a mere two-and-a-half hour away from Bangkok by car. Apart from varieties of vegetations that are noticeably different from those found at low land, a trip up and around Khao Yai can be filled with surprises here and there. Visitors can easily spot deer fearlessly strolling in hilly grassland, hornbills flying by and later in the day, a family of elephants coming out of the thick forest for a salt lick.

Though going up to the recreational and camp ground area on top of Khao Yai demands constant steep climbs, the many roadways of Khao Yai are ideal for both trained and ambitious bikers.
